Avoid Setting Up Tents In Floodplains

Friday, September 10th, 2010

While camping next to rivers and even what may appear to be dry streambeds it is important for campers to remember the danger that exists in these areas. Every year there are families who pack up their Coleman camping equipment and head outdoors only to find themselves swept away in a flood. Everyone likes to camp by a river but the water can rise at any minute and should it do that when everyone is in their outdoor camping tents this can lead to trouble. Campers should always find the high water line on shore and make sure camp it set up above this point even when rain is not in the forecast for the area.

For many campers comfort while you sleep is one of the biggest factors on whether you enjoy the trip or not. While there are many Coleman tents that provide plenty of room inside for freedom of movement this alone will not get the shut eye that you want. To truly rest well a camper will not want to sleep on the hard ground and while there are plenty of Coleman camping supplies that can cushion the ground the most popular is the air mattress. An air mattress can take even the most rugged and remote country and give you a cloud to sleep on at night for a perfect sleep that will have you ready for a day of hiking tomorrow.
