Another thing to consider when you compare air mattresses is whether they have a built in air pump.  There are some camping air mattresses that are considered self inflating because they have the air pumps built in to the actual bed.  Other mattresses will have an air pump that is attached to the bed, but still extraneous.  There are also the air bed mattresses that do not have a pump built in.  For these types of mattresses you may wish to buy the air pump.  You will have several choices in Coleman air pumps from a foot pedal, battery operated, electrical, or 12V pump.  The 12V pump works off of your car battery for a source of electricity, while the foot pedals and battery operated pumps will allow for easier use away from civilization. 

Next when you compare air mattresses you will want to look at size.  Coleman air mattresses allow for many different sizes as well as styles.  You can have twin, queen, king or sofa air mattresses from Coleman.  Each style of bed will serve a specific purpose.  For instance if you are going to be sharing a bed you probably want something that will fit two people comfortably, where as a single person can be quite happy with a twin sized bed.  The sofa air beds allow for individuals to sit as well as sleep on the air mattress.  If you have a four person tent you might find it is more comfortable to have something to sit on inside the tent if the weather turns bad rather than lying down on the air mattress or sitting on it without back support.

Cost is of course vital when you are trying to determine the best air mattress.  Most of us have a budget when we are going on a camping trip and buying an air mattress can seem like too much of an expense depending on the accessories you will want to have.
